Performing live and on recordings

Rick began his professional music career in junior high school, performing with numerous groups in local clubs, in genres ranging from rock to jazz.  At Berklee College of Music, Rick  studied with Gary ChaffeeTommy Campbell, and John Ramsay, and performed in hundreds of concerts and studio sessions over the course of his undergraduate tenure, working constantly to support himself through college.

Rick’s early experience of working in large and small venues, with a wide variety of styles, in studios and on stage, gave Rick a lifelong love of working with other musicians in groups from intimate trios to klezmer orchestras.  Rick  has since shared the stage and recorded with many high-profile — and lesser-known — artists such as Warren Hill, Brother’s Hip, Joe SamplePatti LabelleBilly Sheehan, and Boney James, and spent many years on the road with artists as diverse as Paul AnkaJae Cie, and Johnny A.  Rick has also had the pleasure of opening for Robert CrayJimmie VaughanGregg AllmanGeorge Thorogood, and B.B. King.  Rick has enjoyed performing with artists in many genres, including jazz, rock, R&B, funk, latin, blues, and country & western. Rick is currently the band leader for the highly rated Party Factor Band.

Rick relishes challenging himself as a musician and as a drum teacher by working with longtime colleagues and students, as well as establishing new collaborations and cultivating emerging talents.

Most of all Rick loves the challenge, flow, and joy of playing with other musicians!
